What is C-Section Delivery?

C-Section Delivery (Cesarean Section) is a medical surgery in which the baby is delivered through a cut in the abdomen and uterus instead of through the birth canal.

When is a C-Section Recommended?

Doctors may suggest a C-section in the following situations:

  • Baby is in breech position (feet or bottom first)

  • Multiple pregnancy (twins or more)

  • Large baby size

  • Placenta previa (placenta covering cervix)

  • Fetal distress (baby not getting enough oxygen)

  • Previous C-section

  • Prolonged or difficult labor

  • Maternal health conditions like high blood pressure

Procedure of C-Section Delivery

  1. The mother is given spinal or epidural anesthesia.

  2. A small incision is made in the lower abdomen.

  3. Another incision is made in the uterus.

  4. The baby is gently delivered through the opening.

  5. The placenta is removed.

  6. The incision is closed with stitches.

The whole procedure usually takes 30–60 minutes.

Recovery After C-Section

Recovery may take 4–6 weeks. During this time:

  • Take proper rest

  • Avoid heavy lifting

  • Keep the surgical area clean

  • Follow doctor’s medication and advice

  • Attend regular post-delivery checkups

Benefits of C-Section

  • Safer in complicated pregnancies

  • Prevents risks during difficult labor

  • Can be planned in advance if medically required
